ESSEX COURT BARRISTER’S CHAMBER
It was a privilege to be commissioned to design a barristers’ office within this Grade I listed property, dating back to 1685
The existing office lacked character, while stark lighting caused the building’s original historic features to feel lost. To develop a truly tailored brief, we took the time to understand our client’s personality, aesthetic preferences and daily routines. Although the building offers several meeting rooms, our client also wanted a private and inviting setting for more informal conversations with clients and colleagues.
The result is a bold, sophisticated workspace that remains exceptionally comfortable for long working hours, while incorporating dedicated areas to step away from the desk without leaving the room. Working within the requirements of the Grade I listing, the implementation was approached with care towards the other members working within Chambers, as well as the wider considerations of the privately owned site. Every product, finish and architectural detail was carefully considered and specified to create a sense of quiet luxury, that balances contemporary sophistication with the and heritage of its surroundings.
